B.J. Kelley, MD, F.A.C.P

Dr. B.J. Kelley has provided care to people with kidney disease for over five decades. He maintains an active nephrology practice and regularly treats patients in Baptist Memorial Hospital. He has participated in various capacities of research; has served as a medical advisor for medical device and pharmaceutical companies; has served on the medical advisory board for Cordis Dow in the development of the hollow fiber kidney. He collaboratively worked on the development of the disposable plate dialyzer. Dr. Kelley was involved in the basic research on erythropoietin inhibitors in renal disease. Additionally, Dr. Kelley has worked on numerous clinical studies, including dialyzers and Vitamin D analogs.

During his career, his expertise has been sought to guide research, quality initiatives and evidence based practice. He recently served on the Data and Safety Monitoring Board (DSMB) for the System CHANGE study supported by the National Institutes of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK).

Dr. Kelley was instrumental in the creation of the National Kidney Foundation (TN), established Memphis' first dialysis treatment center and was director of the Artificial Kidney Center.
